Dead or Alive Dimensions cover

Dead or Alive: Dimensions is a versus-fighter game for the Nintendo 3DS developed by Team Ninja, and is the eleventh installment of the Dead or Alive series. It will be released on May 24, 2011 by Tecmo Koei. It is the first Dead or Alive title to be released on a Nintendo console, and the first fighting game of the series for a handheld.

Plot

The game retells the story of the Dead or Alive series, chronicling the history of the Dead or Alive World Combat Championship and the people involved. It mainly focuses on the raging war between the Mugen Tenshin Ninja Clan and the Dead or Alive Tournament Executive Committee.

Gameplay

The core fighting system of Dimensions is simular to the fast-paced Dead or Alive 4 from 2004, but with heavy modifications, using some elements from 2001's Dead or Alive 3, such as a more strategy-based "counter system". Although the basic gameplay is the same as the rest of the series, each character has a brand new set of techniques.[1] The game supports both local and online multiplayer.

Dead or Alive; Dimensions makes use of the 3DS's StreetPass capabilities by allowing players to exchange gameplay data between consoles, which will then be used to make AIs fight in the same styles and skills of real players, to teach players how to adapt against real opponents on multiplayer.

The game has been simplified for those new to the series, mapping out suitable move lists on the touch screen. Players have the choice of playing by tapping the touch screen, or using the buttons and have the move lists as referene.

Dimensions features 26 playable characters, most of which have been playable in the series previous, and each feature their own fighting style.
